i really like the first game, i have 1000/1000 on two different accounts, even got 150万 rank S with chihaya/iori/ritsuko, the hardest team. it's a really unique game, i even tracked down the miki faceplate (btw, anyone want to buy this?) and perfect book. L4U was also fun, i kinda regret spending so much on DLC though (probably 85%), punkish gothic i don't regret buying though.

however, im@s2 wasn't that great. shitty story, bad forced rigged matches, stupid placement of ryuuguu komachi (basically you find out they're a shitty group after being forced to lose to them once), unbalanced amulets, rubberbanding AI, etc. graphics are great and S4U is basically L4U with im@s2 graphics, but i like the addition, because namco could have quite easily sold this as a separate game. i played for 55 hours before accidentally deleting my save, but i don't  care since i have no real incentive to continue playing. you can tell they made the story and then tried to tack on your idol's story in between certain places.

dream club i also bought, xboxlive店 was fun for awhile, but it was basically like im@s2's lives/concerts but vs. another real player. i remember playing against orka (and beating his ass  :dealwithit:)

zero i didn't buy, it didn't really seem worth it. i also kinda knew im@s2 would plummet in prices but i still preordered because i couldn't help myself.

both series are more or less "finished".

why? you can play vesperia right now. it's for 360. the only reasons in wanting the ps3 version is:

a) die-hard vesperia fans who have already played through the game for 360
b) hopeless ps3 fanboys with entitlement complexes

literally. that's it. the game is in english, for 360, so you might as well buy it. if you haven't played the 360 version, you won't be skipping cutscenes, which is possible in the ps3 version.

the saddest thing is, this has really kept its price. you're not going to find the game for cheap, hell, even graces f is cheaper.

I've played both... and the difference is like an ass from your mediocore girlfriend versus the ass of a pornstar (totally forgetting how original voices are superior over dubbing)... pretty much it adds shitloads of content, much more actually than ToGF was supposed to add (future arc was rather poor... 3 new boss models srsly?)... What you get?
- new costumes
- new skits
- some changes in the storyline due to the new chars
- new added dungeons (as of bonus ones or ones added to the main storyline), some got expanded
- more than 10 new bosses
- new artes
- new mystic artes/hi-oughi's
- new skills
- new weapons/armor etc.
- new mini-game
- repede can wear costumes and can be the character you explore with (after doin the mini-game)
- there were some unvoiced scenes in the main story line in which got voice added on ps3
- new side quests
- team arena
... and prolly more which am forgetting now

Edit: - Patty and Flynn playable characters
- Overlimit up to 8
- Improved dificulty of boss fights (including some mechanics which prevent you from doing certain spam from the xbox version)
- Less lagg

all of which nobody in the west would enjoy,  because they wouldn't know what the hell items and equipment do/are, unless they're playing with the translated menu patch (which isn't even from the vesperia translation team). but still, the translation team started this year and are already over 50% done, i wouldn't be surprised if this actually gets released, now that they're no longer (capable of) working on graces f.

i've played through both for 360 and "superior dubbing" is subjective. everyone seems to think japanese audio is automatically superior because it's in japanese, which is just ludicrous. the majority of people saying this are hopeless japanophiles who would create threads bitching about japanese games never having localization, yet turn around and complain when they're localized without a japanese voice option. the atlus USA forums are terrible because of things like this.

everything you listed is an upgrade, from the original game, which was released for 360. it's not like people are incapable of playing the game, and it's even on games on demand so it's not like finding a copy is difficult. sure, you can import a game for $80 USD and play through it, but you won't understand what the hell you're doing. or, you can buy the 360 version, and actually enjoy what you're playing. and if you're such a fan, why not import it anyway? it's not like you're forced to import a ps3.

read what i've written concerning importing, it basically covers all fundamentals behind enjoyment. you're better off waiting for localization. i don't see how playing through the game once in english for 360, and then playing through the game again in japanese for ps3 is even remotely enjoyable. you'd at least need to understand katakana in order to enjoy the heart of the game, the battle system. i wouldn't even play vesperia for the story, it's basically a wild goose chase with yuri randomly offing two dudes as the story continues on like nothing ever happened.

vesperia's problem though, is that this was monopolized by microsoft in similar fashion to heavy rain's exclusitivity for ps3. this was recently let out of the bag in a namco bandai employee's facebook comment, which she retracted, but the chances of it being true are very high. there's also evidence to suggest that it actually is true, such as the voice actors being called back, which suggests namco originally planned for localization at one point.

i'm surprised there isn't a platinum version of vesperia for ps3 by now. it's something i'd like to buy, but it's still like 6000 yen used. considering i have the US and JP 360 versions. even though i've maxed all characters in the jp 360 version, i'd probably play through it again if given the opportunity.

i won't follow because i don't care about localization, it's obvious they're not interested and it's a wonder that they're even bothering with graces.

there's a translation patch in process, right? and considering i've played through the game in english and japanese for 360 and

'd the game, i'm not in any hurry to play it again. but i'd probably order the ps3 version if the patch was actually released.

the best thing about the PS3 version was the ability to skip cutscenes. they go on and on and on and on. the heart of vesperia is the battle system, and since there's already a menu patch, if you really wanted to play through, you could just seek measures into downloading it.

anyway, i disagree with recent jrpgs stagnating, nier and resonance of fate are two of the best i've played in years. everyone is like, "oh it's untranslated, therefore it's superior" but it's really not like that. last story is mediocre, pandora's tower is ok and xenoblade is great. it's not like they're all good because they're lacking localizations. same applies with any genre, really.
Wow im sorry you feel that way. I personaly will kill for this. Lol JK :3 Tales of vesperia had the best graphics until graces came out which made me like it more. Plus the gameplay is solid.

Hi.

Eschatos is seriously a must buy if you don't like fancy scoring systems, it has an excellent supersweep soundtrack and also comes with a remastered version of Judgment Silversword which you won't find for under 15,000 yen.

Recently I've been playing the PC-Engine re-releases for PS3, like Salamander and Gradius. Grab a USB Saturn pad and you're set.

I don't have too many shmups actually, just most of the 360 stuff.
